objectives of this event
Pharmacogenomics is Pivotal in Precision Medicine: The primary objective of the summit is to highlight the pivotal role of Pharmacogenomics (PGx) in the field of precision medicine. PGx has the potential to revolutionise the practice medicine and this summit intends to showcase its potential to healthcare professionals via presentations from the international experts and thought leaders. Through this, the summit seek to inspire a collective commitment in embracing innovation to improve patient outcomes.Â
Providing a Global Perspective and Knowledge Sharing on Pharmacogenomics: The summit’s panel of speakers from the UK, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia will provide a global perspective to participants through the sharing of best practices and experience in PGx implementation. The global impact of PGx in health service delivery, medication safety and better therapeutic outcomes will be highlighted and participants encouraged to consider it for their own professional practice.
Encouraging the Implementation of Pharmacogenomics: PGx implementation is a multidisciplinary approach that integrates genetic testing into clinical practice. It enables the healthcare professional to optimise medication selection and the dosing of pharmacotherapy for the individual’s unique needs, thus improving therapeutic outcomes. Ultimately, this will improve public health and lower healthcare costs by increasing treatment efficacy and reducing adverse medication events. The summit will also encourage participants to evaluate the current evidence on PGx, the infrastructure required for its implementation (such as electronic health records and clinical workflows), result interpretation and clinical treatment decision making and quality assurance.
Policy, Regulation and Ethical Advocacy of Pharmacogenomic Testing: The summit will also allow participants to discuss the regulatory and ethical aspects lined to evidence based guidelines and protocols for PGx implementation. This includes key points of integration into clinical practice such as patient consent, protection of personal data and patient confidentiality and the universal access to genetic testing.
Platform to Improve Multidisciplinary Collaboration and Partnership in Pharmacogenomics: Ultimately, the summit seeks to encourage collaboration and partnerships of healthcare professionals, diagnostics laboratories, industry partners, payors (such in insurers), policymakers, ethics practitioners and the wider research community to accelerate the adoption of into practice.

How can general practitioners integrate Pharmacogenomics into their practice ?
General practitioners can integrate Pharmacogenomics by using genetic tests to inform treatment plans and selecting medications that are best suited to a patient’s genetic profile.
Are there any known side effects of pharmacogenomic treatments ?
Pharmacogenomic treatments aim to minimize side effects by personalizing medication based on genetic information, although some side effects can still occur.Â
How do Pharmacogenomics impact treatment plans ?
Pharmacogenomics helps create personalized treatment plans based on genetic profiles, improving the effectiveness of medications and reducing adverse reactions.
Can Pharmacogenomics predict Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) ?
Yes, Pharmacogenomics can help predict and prevent adverse drug reactions by identifying genetic risk factors that may cause negative responses to certain medications.
What is the cost of Pharmacogenomic testing ?
Special pricing for this summit is RM 1,200 brought to you by Precision Diagnostics.
