BIOGRAPHY

Professor Dr. Russell D’Souza is the Chair & Head Department of Education International Chair in Bioethics & WMA Co-Operating Centre, University of Porto, Melbourne, Australia and he leads global operations at the Totem International Institute of Organizational Psychological Medicine, based in Australia and the USA, with additional presence in the UK, Netherlands, Ireland, and India. He focuses on providing advanced psychological and intellectual medicine-based HR solutions for senior executives worldwide, emphasizing research, consultation, and enhancing organizational human capital. Dr. D’Souza’s innovative approach, Total Human Capital Management Solutions (THCMS), maximizes individual potential while aligning with organizational goals. His leadership has seen the successful implementation of THCMS programs, particularly in healthcare sectors in Australia and the UK, resulting in enhanced creativity, alignment with organizational objectives, and revitalized human capital. These achievements underscore his global impact in organizational psychology and HR management.
 
Dr. Russell D’Souza boasts a diverse medical education background spanning from his MBBS in 1977 to his Doctor of Medicine degree from Madras Medical College, India. He furthered his studies in Australia, obtaining postgraduate qualifications in Psychiatry from esteemed institutions. D’Souza completed the psychiatrist training program in 1991 and pursued various postgraduate qualifications beyond psychiatry, including Health Service Management and Clinical Trials Management. In 2000, he earned certification from the American Board of Disability Analysts.
 
In 2011, D’Souza assumed the role of Chair of the Asia Pacific Bioethics Network, tasked with establishing UNESCO Bioethics units across the region. His leadership resulted in units being established in universities across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, India, and others.
 
D’Souza has made significant contributions to psychiatry and mental health services in Australia over 27 years. He served as Director of Clinical Trials and the Bipolar Program at the Northern Psychiatry Research Centre from 2004 to October 2012, facilitating advancements in psychiatric research and treatments for bipolar disorder. Earlier, he held roles addressing mental health needs in rural and remote communities and overseeing mental health programs at Eastern Health, Box Hill, Melbourne.
 
Throughout his career, D’Souza has authored over 50 publications, demonstrating his commitment to advancing psychiatry and improving mental health services in Australia.
